Starting today, Adobe is rolling out a new version of its Creative Cloud desktop app for macOS and Windows with an updated design and totally new organization. Adobe hopes the new app will be a more intuitive way to launch and update apps and access your Creative Cloud files.

Adobe’s previous Creative Cloud desktop app was always a bit of an outlier on macOS. The app behaved like a menu bar utility — always running and accessible with a click — but looked and felt more like a web app or port than a native Mac tool.

The new app is still accessible from your menu bar, but now lives in a resizable window and has been designed to look like Adobe’s other modern Creative Cloud apps. We haven’t gotten our hands on the new experience yet to see how it performs, but the interface certainly looks more Mac-friendly than before.

Creative Cloud Libraries makes the core design assets for your brand or personal projects available to you anywhere. Easily collect and organize images, colors, text styles, and other elements created in various Creative Cloud desktop and mobile apps. To enable Creative Cloud Files syncing, open the Creative Cloud desktop app, click the Settings gear icon at the top, click the Syncing tab, and make sure Syncing is enabled. If you discover that it needed to be enabled, wait a few minutes for your Creative Cloud Files to sync down to your Mac. I uninstalled all my apps and creative cloud hoping to put CC on the second hard drive but when I started CC to install it didn't give me 5 seconds before it was sending me messages about everything it was downloading. If anyone can help me figure out where the settings are for CC libraries before I re-install, I would really appreciate it! Not too long ago Adobe held a series of expert sessions to address common questions and answers about the Creative Cloud offering, which is new on the scene since the release of CS6. We took careful notes plus have expanded the content, and thought we’d share with you below what was learned in those sessions from the Adobe Evangelists. What is Creative Cloud? Manage and update your apps

Adobe has redesigned the apps tabs for a clearer view of which apps you have installed and which have updates. You can still choose to download a legacy version of an application if available.

Creative Cloud Library management

Once available only within individual Adobe apps, Creative Cloud Libraries can now be managed full-screen right in the launcher. Assets can be shared, managed, and deleted in a new “Your work” section of the app. The functionality of Libraries remains the same.

Access to tutorials

The Creative Cloud app’s former “Learn” tab has been replaced by skill categories and a Tutorials hub. You’ll be able to access help resources, videos, and compatibility information for each app.

Asset and font search

Like before, the new Creative Cloud app gives you access to Adobe Fonts and assets from Adobe Stock. What’s new is a powerful built-in search engine that searches across Creative Cloud.

Some Creative Cloud users have already received early access to the new app, but widespread availability begins today. Adobe says the update will roll out first in France and Germany on October 10, followed by Japan on October 11. All users will see the update within the next week.

Creative Cloud is available through a monthly or annual subscription.

Problem: The Libraries panel stopped working after reinstalling the Creative Cloud desktop app

If you uninstall the Creative Cloud desktop app and reinstall it as part of some troubleshooting, the Libraries panel inside a Creative Cloud desktop app may stop working. A blank panel is displayed, as shown below.

Download the latest Creative Cloud Libraries installer from the link below, and double-click the file to begin the installation.

Kill any running Creative Cloud Library process by using the Task Manager on Windows or Activity Monitor on macOS.

Note that the name of the process is 'CCLibrary (32/64 bit)'.

Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool to clean the Creative Cloud Library.

Steps for Windows:

1. Click the following link to download the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool for Windows: AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.exe.
   If you see a download or save file prompt, click Save File to download it on your computer.
2. Right-click the downloaded AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.exe file and choose Run as Administrator.
   Note: If Run as Administrator is not available when you right-click, double-click AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.exe to run the EXE file.
3. Follow the onscreen instructions in this order:
   • Choose your language: Press E for English or J for Japanese, and then press Enter.
   • Review the Adobe End-User License Agreement: Press Y to accept or N to decline (if you decline, the script stops). Press Enter.
   • Select the application you want to remove: Press the number that corresponds to All and then pressEnter.
   • Press the number that corresponds to CC Library (32/64 Bit) and then pressEnter.
     
   • Confirm that you want to remove the product: Press Y and then press Enter.
4. When you see the message “Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool completed successfully,” press Enter.

Steps for macOS:

1. Click the following link to download the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool for macOS: AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.dmg.
   If you see a download or save file prompt, click Save File to download it on your computer.
2. To run the tool double-click the downloaded AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.dmg file.
3. Double-click Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool and follow the onscreen instructions in this order:
   • Choose your language: Press E for English or J for Japanese, and then press Return.
   • Review the Adobe End-User License Agreement: Press Y to accept or N to decline (if you decline, the script stops). Press Return.
   • From the menu in the upper-right corner of the script window, select the version of the application you want to remove. Press Return.
   • From the table, select the app you want to clean up - CC Library, and then click Cleanup.
4. When you see the message “Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool completed successfully,” click Quit.

Download the latest Creative Cloud Libraries installer from the link below, and double-click the file to begin the installation.
